Local History

Bennett College Archives

The Millbrook Library houses a collection of historical material and memorabilia relating to Bennett College. Bennett College was founded in 1890 by May Friend Bennett as an educational institution for women and was in operation until 1978. The collection includes yearbooks, scrapbooks, photo albums, memorabilia, and various administrative documents relating to college operations.

The Millbrook Library staff is working to digitize the collection so it will be available and searchable online. We are excited to announce that the first documents have been uploaded and are live!

We are regularly scanning and cataloging more of the collection, so check back for updates. We hope that having the collection digitized will make it easier for people to learn about the history of Bennett College.

If you have a specific research request, please contact Courtney Tsahalis at director@millbrooklibrary.org.

Millbrook Round Table

We have started to digitize the Millbrook Round Table newspaper collection! We currently have 1895 – 1991 available to view. We will be adding the full collection over time so be sure to check back for updates.

Millbrook Historical Society

The Millbrook Historical Society strives to preserve all periods of the our shared history – from the earliest Quaker settlers, to the arrival of the railroad, to the Italian immigrants and robber barons who made Millbrook home – so that residents and visitors alike can appreciate the people and the events that have made Millbrook what it is today.

Millbrook Gazebo

In light of the Millbrook School District’s recent mailer about the possibility of demolishing the Elm Drive Gazebo by the tennis courts, a group of concerned citizens have formed the Friends of the Gazebo.

Join the community in coming together to preserve this piece of Millbrook History.
